Beach days, considered / September 2026
Phuket’s 3 beach clubs to know: Catch, Café del Mar and Carpe Diem
A beach club is really a decision about how you want your day to feel. Lunch that quietly becomes sunset? A pool and a DJ? A beautifully organised afternoon of doing almost nothing?

I would consider Catch for a flexible Bang Tao beach day, Café del Mar for a Kamala visit built around its music programme, and Carpe Diem for a Mediterranean-style meal by the sea. Compare the actual date and package: a restaurant table, a daybed and an event ticket are different bookings.
Three clubs, three starting points
These are three editorial favourites for different occasions, not a measurement of the loudest party or the most expensive sunbed. For each, I checked the venue’s own website. The atmosphere I would choose is a matter of taste; the package price and age rules are things to confirm in writing.
1. Catch — the flexible Bang Tao day
Catch combines beach-club seating, dining and a changing programme. Its published first-row oceanfront/pool sunbed example is THB 8,000 for two, with THB 8,000 in food-and-beverage credit. That is a package with spending credit, not THB 8,000 admission per person plus another THB 8,000 to spend. source ↗
I would choose a restaurant table if lunch is the point, and a daybed if I want somewhere to stay for the afternoon. The distinction sounds obvious until a beautiful booking photograph persuades you to reserve rather more square metres than you need. Ask what the credit covers, when it expires and what happens if the weather changes.

2. Café del Mar — pick the programme, then the outfit
Café del Mar Phuket is on Kamala Beach. Its official site separates daytime pool life from a changing events programme; published daylife hours are 11:00–19:00. source ↗
This is the choice I would investigate when music is part of the reason to go. Look up the actual event rather than assuming a Tuesday afternoon and a weekend night promise the same experience. If you want a conversation-led lunch, ask where to sit; if you want the DJ, book for the DJ. A familiar venue name is not a volume control.
I have not assigned it one universal entry or daybed price. Check the date, zone, minimum spend and whether an event ticket includes any seating. A ticket that lets you in does not necessarily reserve somewhere to put your bag.

3. Carpe Diem — let lunch become the occasion
Carpe Diem is at the southern end of Bang Tao, with Mediterranean cooking, pizza, beach beds and a pool. Its official FAQ states minimum ages of 12 for the restaurant and 15 for the pool and beach-bed areas. Check this before making a family plan. source ↗
I would start with a seafront meal, then decide whether the rest of the day belongs here too. A shared lunch, some shade and time without an immediate next appointment can be an excellent arrangement. The venue also runs music and events, so ask about the day’s programme if a quieter table is your priority.
For a beach-bed booking, request the current package and inclusions directly. “Seize the day” is a lovely philosophy. It can still accommodate reading the cancellation terms.
Read the booking as carefully as the menu
| Booking type | What to establish before paying |
|---|---|
| Restaurant table | Is there a deposit or minimum spend, and is it credited to the bill? |
| Daybed or cabana | How many guests, which zone, what time slot, and what food-and-drink credit? |
| Event ticket | Admission only or reserved seating? Separate restaurant access? |
| Any package | Final charges, cancellation terms and the rain policy. |
My own planning rule is simple: choose one club as the main event. Crossing from beach to beach to compare three lunches sounds thorough, but mostly gives your afternoon to the road. Save the other two for another day.
The ideal beach-club day has room for very little to happen — provided you booked the right kind of little.

Can children visit Carpe Diem?
The published minimum is 12 for the restaurant and 15 for the pool and beach beds. Confirm current rules before reserving. source ↗
Is a beach-club minimum spend an entrance fee?
Not necessarily. A credit-based package lets you redeem a stated amount against eligible spending. Check its conditions and avoid counting the package and its included credit as two separate charges.
