Chanel Fall/Winter 2026: the pleasure of dressing for more than one mood
I like a wardrobe with range. Sometimes that means changing for dinner. Sometimes it means changing the earrings and insisting that this was the plan all along.

Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection by Matthieu Blazy explores a conversation between simplicity and more luminous evening dressing. My September edit focuses on proportion, texture and a single change of emphasis.
The current autumn collection
Chanel presents its Fall/Winter 2026 collection as a dialogue between Matthieu Blazy and Gabrielle Chanel, moving between day and night, simplicity and iridescence. This article looks back at the collection for the autumn season; it does not announce a new September runway show. source ↗
The question I would bring to the pictures is practical: what gives an outfit enough definition that it does not need constant additions? Sometimes the answer is the jacket. Sometimes it is the way a skirt moves. Sometimes an extra accessory would simply interrupt a perfectly good sentence.
Three decisions before the accessories
| Decision | Day | Evening |
|---|---|---|
| Silhouette | Keep one clear outline. | Preserve the outline; change the emphasis. |
| Texture | Choose a finish you enjoy in daylight. | Add one detail that catches the light. |
| Accessories | Carry what the day actually requires. | Remove the practical excess before adding decoration. |
This is how I would use a runway as a wardrobe tool: identify the principle, then see whether something you already own can express it. A new season can refresh the eye before it refreshes the credit-card statement.
The Phuket version of the idea
On the island, I would work with a lighter base and put the evening shift into jewellery, a small bag or a more deliberate shoe. For an indoor dinner, a layer you can comfortably remove is more useful than an outfit whose entire personality depends on staying buttoned up.
Before committing to a textured piece, I would look at it in ordinary daylight and under indoor lighting. I would also try it with the shoes I actually wear. A beautifully composed runway photograph cannot tell you how your own proportions will respond.
The aim is to look considered before you look decorated.
